Stella at her performance assessment with the KNN, autumn 2007
We imported Stella from Denmark in 2004 as an unbacked 3-year old as Theresa’s future riding horse. Before getting her over we took her up for grading with the KNN, the Knabstrupper Mother Stud Book. At the time, Knabstrupper gradings had not yet commenced in the UK and there was therefore no option available for doing so once she was over here with us.
Stella was backed in 2005 and put in foal to the advanced dressage Knabstrupper stallion Hamlet Frydenlund. In 2006 we had the first foal of our own breeding, Halfdan Heimdal, a few spot colt.
Stella was due to come back into work autumn 2006 after her foal was weaned. However, Theresa had a serious car accident that autumn and with an uncertain timeline of recovery the decision was made in spring 2007 to send her away to continue with her education.
Sarah prepared and took Stella up for her performance assessment with the KNN in the autumn 2007, gaining her "R" as proof of her rideability. This was the first time a mare was presented for performance assessment at the UK gradings.
